Whew. I never know what they're going to say.
I didn't tell them I'd showered with lavender soap because it's a calming scent.
I love helping my students feel safe. When a student feels safe, they can learn. They can't learn when they are in the midst of fight or flight.
It's my job to challenge my students each day so they can grow. It's really hard for them sometimes. I'm constantly wracking my brain and studying the research to find ways of reaching my students. Every student is unique. You can't compare them to anyone else. They react to stress in their own unique way. And for students with autism, school is very stressful.
If I can make things a little softer, a little calmer, I'm going to do it. Tell me, what things do you to keep yourself and your students calm?
